Drain the Lake has 40 enabled badges in the October 9, 2026 official list. For ordinary progress, start with First Drop, Plunge, and the checkpoint goals. Choose Tourist or Skill Issue before starting a challenge run, because draining a bucket yourself or buying an upgrade conflicts with their requirements.
How to use the badge directory
| Your next goal | Start with | Completion target |
|---|---|---|
| First visit | First Drop or Plunge | Drain your first bucket or take a swim in the lake |
| More depth | Checkpoint goals | Reach a named checkpoint you have not earned |
| A count milestone | Next bucket, chest, or currency target | Meet the activity's exact count or balance condition |
| A challenge | Tourist or Skill Issue | Finish while respecting the chosen restriction |
| An ending | Ending goals | Earn the ending badge, not just a checkpoint badge |
Choose an unearned objective that fits your run. These are goal suggestions, not a timed fastest-badge route.
Checkpoint progress is not an ending
The six checkpoint goals are Shipwreck (Sunken Secrets), Cavern (Deep Dive), Mineshaft (The Mines), Molten (Fire Below), Lost City (Ancient Ruins), and Abyss (Into the Abyss). If you want more depth badges, work toward a destination you have not reached and check for its matching badge after arriving.
- Reaching Abyss does not by itself confirm the Phone ending. Into the Abyss asks you to reach the checkpoint; Find My Phone asks you to unlock the ending.
- Hidden Treasure and Frozen Throne are separate ending goals. The Phone badge does not count as either of them.

Count-based badge goals
Choose the next target in the activity you are already doing. Token milestones use lifetime earnings, not your current balance. Deep Pockets requires 5,000 Diamonds at the same time; spending Diamonds before reaching that balance does not meet its stated condition.
| Activity | Badge targets | What counts |
|---|---|---|
| Drain buckets | First Drop: first bucket; Bucket Brigade: 100; Water Works: 1,000; Ocean's Worst Nightmare: 10,000 | Bucket count, not water volume |
| Find chests | Lucky Find: 10; Sunken Riches: 100; Bottomless Treasure: 1,000 | Number of chests found |
| Earn Tokens | Token Tycoon: 100,000; Liquid Assets: 1,000,000 | Lifetime Tokens earned |
| Hold Diamonds | Deep Pockets: 5,000 | Diamonds held at once |
| Craft items | Power Surge: 500 Energy Pads; Master Plumber: 500 Auto Drains; Deposit Mogul: 500 Depositors | Each named item has its own craft target; these are not 500 combined crafts |
Crafting recipes, costs, and current crafting access need an in-game check. The craft counts are badge targets, not purchase instructions.
Challenge runs: choose the restriction before you start
Tourist requires beating the game without draining a single bucket yourself. Skill Issue requires beating the game without buying a single upgrade. A normal upgrade-and-drain route conflicts with those conditions, so choose the challenge before taking those actions.
- Buying an upgrade conflicts with Skill Issue; draining a bucket yourself conflicts with Tourist.
- Overachiever requires a Medium completion. Drained & Deranged requires a Hard completion. A completion on another difficulty does not satisfy the named difficulty requirement.
- Live Bait is a Hard-mode shark survival goal, not the Hard completion badge. Check the exact badge name when a run ends.
- Choosing a Hard goal?: Hard difficulty guide
Shark goals are different actions
A catch, repeated bites, surviving a bite, and escaping a lunge are different objectives. Aim for the action named by your missing badge; encountering the shark alone does not satisfy every shark goal.
| Badge | Required action | Condition to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Shark Bait | Get caught by the Shark | One catch is the stated objective |
| Chew Toy | Get bitten by the Shark 25 times | One bite does not meet the count |
| Live Bait | Survive a Shark bite on Hard | Both survival and Hard difficulty are required |
| Slippery | Escape the Shark's lunge 10 times | The target is escapes, not bites |

Count: 40 enabled badges. In-game rewards and any Ancient Bucket badge gate need a current in-game check.
Can these badges unlock Ancient Bucket?
Older public guides connect the Ancient Bucket to a badge count and developer-group membership, but the current Roblox Badge API does not prove that unlock rule. Treat it as a lead that needs a current in-game check, not as a confirmed requirement.
- Confirm the requirement text in the current lobby or inventory UI.
- Confirm whether every enabled Roblox badge counts toward the gate.
- Confirm the current claim location and any group-membership requirement.
Quick Guide
Players need to choose a badge they can work toward and understand its exact target before spending a run on the wrong action.
- Pick an unearned badge with an explicit objective. First Drop asks for one drained bucket; Plunge asks for a swim in the lake.
- If you are pushing deeper, use the six checkpoint badge names to check which destinations you have reached.
- For chest or bucket goals, work toward the next count threshold rather than treating a single find or drain as completion.
- Decide on a restricted challenge before following an upgrade route: Tourist forbids personal draining, while Skill Issue forbids upgrade purchases.
- After completing an objective, check for that exact earned badge name. A checkpoint badge does not confirm an ending.

How many badges are there?
The October 9, 2026 official list has 40 enabled badges. There are written objectives for 38; Harbour Explorer and Ruler of Atlantis have no description.
Does reaching Abyss complete the Phone ending?
Not by itself. Into the Abyss is the checkpoint badge; Find My Phone is awarded for unlocking the Phone ending. Check which badge you earned before treating the route as finished.
Do I need to keep 100,000 Tokens for Token Tycoon?
Its stated target is 100,000 lifetime Tokens earned, not a 100,000 balance. Deep Pockets uses a different rule: hold 5,000 Diamonds at once.
How many badges do I need for the Ancient Bucket?
Older public guides report a 10-badge plus group requirement, but the current official Badge API does not prove it. Check the current in-game unlock text before planning around that number.
What is the rarest badge in Drain the Lake?
No fixed rarity ranking is given here. Award statistics change over time, and an enabled badge with few awards does not tell you how to trigger it.
How many total Gems can I earn from badges?
The Roblox Badge API does not expose in-game Gem rewards, so this page does not publish a total. Check the current reward UI before using badges for currency planning.
Which guide should I open next?
Use Checkpoints for a missing depth goal, Endings for a finish goal, or Hard Difficulty for a mode-specific goal. Those tasks are different from chest and bucket count milestones.
